Dominic "Dot" Okune, known professionally as DotDaEngineer, is a highly skilled audio engineer and the founder/owner of 669 Studios and 334 Atelier. Based in Toronto, Dot has spent over a decade cultivating the sound of the city and has become a sought-after expert in sound execution for both live performances and recording sessions.
Of Polish and Nigerian heritage, Dot’s multicultural background has played a major role in shaping his unique sound. Growing up in Poland and later spending half of his life refining both self and sound in Canada, he developed a distinctive mixing style influenced by European, African, and American musical traditions. With a deep appreciation for music from around the world, Dot constantly draws inspiration from global sounds, blending elements that resonate emotionally and sonically to craft something fresh and boundary-pushing.
Since 2012, Dot has collaborated with numerous talented artists and session musicians, specializing in recording vocals and instruments, post-production mixing, mastering tracks, and creating performance tracks and DJ packs. One of Dot’s greatest strengths is artist development—helping artists shape and evolve their sound and style from the ground up, making him a valuable long-term partner in their creative journeys.
Dot has engineered and DJed over 100 live performances, bringing high-level technical skill and energy to stages alongside some of today’s most dynamic artists. His work has collectively been streamed over a billion times across major platforms, a testament to his impact and reach in the music world.
Beyond the studio and stage, Dot has successfully run multiple workshops, both independently and in collaboration with other industry professionals, sharing valuable knowledge with aspiring engineers, producers, and artists.
In 2015, Dot established 669 Studios as a creative space for engineers, producers, and artists to collaborate and create. The studio quickly grew into a renowned hub for musicians seeking professional sound production and engineering services. In 2023, Dot opened another chapter in his audio engineering journey by launching 334 Atelier, a new studio venture.
DotDaEngineer’s exceptional work has been recognized with several nominations and awards, including a Juno Award win for Best Rap Album with Snotty Nose Rez Kids’ “Red Future”, a Gold Single for Ali Gatie’s “Moonlight” (Music Canada & RIAA certified), a Gold certification for Ali Gatie’s “Can’t Lie” (Music Canada & RIAA certified), a 2× Platinum Album for Ali Gatie’s “You”, and a Triple Platinum award for Loud Luxury x Anders’ “Love No More.” He was also nominated for a Juno Award in the R&B Album category for Anders’ “Twos.”
